Interlaken lies in central Switzerland between Lake Thun and Lake Brienz, taking its name from being between the two lakes, and serving as the gateway town to the Bernese Oberland.
Since the nineteenth century, thanks to its snow-capped peaks, lakes and fresh air, it grew into a famous resort and health retreat, and the starting point for excursions to the Jungfrau.
Today Interlaken is renowned for paragliding, hiking and scenic railways, one of the most popular travel hubs in the Swiss Alps.
The town is backed by mountains and faces two lakes, with the Hoeheweg park and the Aare River running through it; take the funicular up to the Harder Kulm viewpoint for a panorama of both lakes and the peaks.
Interlaken is the transfer point for famous mountains such as the Jungfrau, the Schilthorn and the First, where cogwheel trains and cable cars carry you deep into the Alps.

Interlaken se trouve dans le centre de la Suisse, entre le lac de Thoune et le lac de Brienz, tirant son nom de sa position entre les deux lacs, et servant de porte d'entrée à l'Oberland bernois.
Depuis le XIXe siècle, grâce à ses sommets enneigés, ses lacs et son air pur, la ville est devenue une célèbre station de villégiature et de cure, et le point de départ des excursions vers la Jungfrau.
Aujourd'hui Interlaken est réputée pour le parapente, la randonnée et les trains panoramiques, l'un des pôles touristiques les plus prisés des Alpes suisses.
La ville est adossée aux montagnes et fait face à deux lacs, avec le parc du Hoeheweg et l'Aar qui la traversent ; prenez le funiculaire jusqu'au belvédère du Harder Kulm pour un panorama des deux lacs et des sommets.
