Dubrovnik is an old city on the Adriatic coast of southern Croatia, founded in the Middle Ages and once the seat of the prosperous Republic of Ragusa, famous for its maritime trade.
The old city is ringed by intact walls; the ramparts, churches and palaces were restored after earthquakes and wars, and in 1979 the old town was inscribed as a World Heritage Site, hailed as the Pearl of the Adriatic.
Today Dubrovnik is famous for its city walls, red-tile roofs and azure bays, and it is a key filming location for King's Landing in the hit series Game of Thrones.
The walls encircling the old city are the emblem of Dubrovnik; walking along them you look over the red-tile old town, the harbour and the blue Adriatic.

The old town is mostly cobblestones and hot in summer, so wear comfortable shoes, carry plenty of water and protect yourself from the sun; the walk around the walls is long, so plan within your ability.

Dubrovnik est une vieille ville sur la côte adriatique du sud de la Croatie, fondée au Moyen Âge et jadis siège de la prospère République de Raguse, célèbre pour son commerce maritime.
La vieille ville est ceinte de remparts intacts ; les murailles, églises et palais ont été restaurés après les séismes et les guerres, et en 1979 la vieille ville a été inscrite au patrimoine mondial, saluée comme la Perle de l'Adriatique.
